Natural Ways To Deal With Stress

Stress is something I’m sure all of us deal with either on a daily, weekly, monthly or rare basis. If you’re like me and stress about nearly everything…these tips are for you! It’s not good to always feel worrisome and overwhelmed – try something down below and see if it helps!

Eucalyptus

Trader Joe’s sells Eucalyptus in bundles for very inexpensive. I’d say I spent under $5 for mine! I love to tie it up in a hot shower to clear my sinuses + makes me feel super calm.

Essential Oils

So many people have found a remedy for their stress by using essential oils. Personally, I haven’t explored them enough to be an expert but I have tried a few like lavender that have definitely helped me feel less-annoyed and concentrated on my day.

Honey & Bananas

Bananas are known to have something called tryptophan. This protein gets converted in the body to serotonin which helps you relax and feel overall more content. I eat a banana in the morning almost every day just to keep my mood going in the right direction.

Honey mixed with chamomile tea before bed has also helped aid my stress. A teaspoon is just enough to get myself in a calm state. Not entirely sure if honey is scientifically proven to have anti-anxiety/stress-free benefits but it sure works for me.

Running

Cardio is hardio, we all know this. But there’s something about running a mile or two that just makes me feel 10x better about whatever is going on in my life. When you exercise, your moving your body and focusing on that, nothing else. It’s calming when you’ve only got one thing to focus on!

Breathing Techniques & Meditation

Taking a few deep breaths or spending some time alone can help you sort out your thoughts on a personal level. I like taking a couple of minutes to unplug from my surroundings and just be.

Indulge

There’s nothing wrong with giving yourself a little bit of something good when you’re overwhelmed. Find a healthy snack that you love and can go-to when you need to calm down.

Listening To Soothing Sounds

Take a walk outside or use a sound machine and listen to soothing chirps, waves, or rain. There are even a few apps out there that can bring the outdoors to you!

Declutter

I’ve found a lot of comfort in decluttering my home lately. Removing items that I have no use for anymore and reorganizing really helps clear my mind. This is perfect to do on a cold winter day too!

Taking A Bath

Find the time to treat yourself by taking a long, hot, bath. I’ll light a few candles and prep my tub with some of my favorite bubble bath – always makes me feel less stressed and relaxed.

Himalayan Salt Lamps

I’m sure most of you have heard of these beauties before. The negative salt ions that are produced under heat from the lamp can boost blood flow, calm allergies, and improve sleep. I keep one right next to my bed and turn it on when I start my night routine.

Decorating The Tree 2017

The most wonderful time of the year is upon us and you shouldn’t be surprised that I’m putting this post up early! Christmas is my holiday, winter is my season, and decorating the house (any chance I get) is what I’m excellent at! All this holly jolly has made me eager to share what my tree looks like and what theme I decided to go with – sparkles, silvers, and golds!

Here are just a few of my sentimental or unique ornaments I’ve always been fond of throughout the years!

The infamous lucky pickle. If you don’t have one of these on your tree, are you even doing Christmas right?! I’m not sure where this tradition stemmed from but I’ve had a pickle on all of the trees I’ve ever owned. If you’re looking for one, the dollar store typically has them for super inexpensive!

My “to the lodge” ornament is definitely special because it was one of the first ornaments I purchased after my husband and I moved into our first home! We don’t live in a lodge or anything similar for that matter; it just fits our rustic deco style SO well! Pretty sure I picked this guy up from Target for a few bucks!

The hubby is a giant Packers fan so it’s no surprise this is tucked in our tree branches. I can live with a little green and yellow considering the rest of the tree is trimmed to my liking + to be honest, football is growing on me!

I’m positive many of you have at least one of these snowmen on your own tree. Aren’t they just the cutest?!

There’s an abundance of fishing ornaments on the tree. I’m not a fisherman but…the husband is and marriage is all about compromise. Am I right?! Although I had an overwhelming and exact theme this year, I think it’s important to incorporate memories from past Christmas’s.

What’s your favorite thing about the Holidays?! Do you celebrate Christmas or something different?! I wanna know in the comments below what your traditions and favorites are during this fun time of year!

See you in my next post!

Day In The Life + Giveaway

With work, the pups, my blog, and this crazy Chicagoland weather I hardly find the time to get outside and explore. This past Sunday, my mom, sister, and I took a few hours to spend some time in a small town near us. I thought I’d snap a few pics and tell you all a little about what we did! See below for more..

Before leaving, I decided to slip on my favorite pair of shoes I purchased recently. I grabbed these at Target for under $25! They were such a steal. I couldn’t resist the suede material, blush color, and the fact they’re very comfortable + so easy to slip on. I paired these with some jeans and an oversized crew neck!

Once we got into town, we wandered over to one of my favorite coffee spots, Hansa. I was so excited they had their seasonal flavor out, which of course, was pumpkin spice. I ordered an iced chai tea latte with a few pumps of pumpkin. And if you know me, you understand my slight addition to chai tea lattes lately. I’m overly obsessed!

I wasn’t able to snap a pick of my own drink but I did get this shot of my mom and sisters. I’m pretty sure they both stuck with a simple hazelnut latte. Probably equally as good as my chai I’d assume. Take a moment to appreciate this latte art!

After coffee I wanted to check out some of the small boutiques. I didn’t find anything I was willing to splurge on but it was cool seeing a few items I’ll be putting on my Christmas list! Speaking about the holidays, am I the only one amazed at the stores bringing out their decor earlier than expected?! Bath and Body Works already has their winter scents out! That’s just so crazy to me! Time is flying by!

This day gifted us with the perfect Fall weather. The three of us were bundled in light sweaters and scarves but were warm enough that we could still walk outside. It was easily one of the best days of the week as far as functionality went.

With outfits and accessories on the brain, I thought I’d point out one of my go-to necklaces. I’ve been eyeballing jewelry that’s simple, elegant, whimsical, and light weight. This piece from Tiny Lumber is exactly that. The geometric design is modern and dainty + being made out of wood makes it feel like you’ve got nothing on. Don’t you hate the feeling of heaviness with some other pieces?!

I had my sister wear it with her outfit and it matched great! Tiny Lumber has so many other designs to choose from that are just as beautiful as this one so make sure to check their site out here!

sisters downtown shopping with coffee

After being out all afternoon long, I ran home to my dogs for a little Sunday football. While I was shopping, I scooped them these frosted football pup treats! They couldn’t have been more excited and I was definitely ready to just relax. The cookies kept them occupied for quite sometime and calmed their nerves from being alone for so long! Is anyone else a devoted dog mom like I am?!
