What Drinking More Water Did To Me

So the last couple weeks I’ve done somewhat of an experiment. Let me explain. I work a full-time job outside of blogging and Instagram. To give a little insight, it’s a job where I’m mostly on my feet all day, speaking constantly, and has very long hours. I don’t mind it though. It pays the bills and keeps me occupied. Anyways, lately I’ve been noticing such a drag in my energy and mood. The past weeks have been rough meaning I wake up late, have no motivation, and can barely work through my shifts. It’s exhausting really.

I knew there had to be a better way. There had to be something I could do differently. That’s when this idea came to be. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I didn’t ever drink water. I did, a lot of it. I just didn’t drink it consistently. I would drink water on the contingency of three scenarios. The first, if I was thirsty (obviously). The second, when I had a pounding headache. The third, during work outs or when I was at work wandering around. It wasn’t a regular human water schedule. You get me?

To prep you for what is to come, I’ll tell you the new way I began doing things. My goal from the beginning of this experiment was to drink at least, four bottles a day. If I drank more…great! But the goal was four. The schedule was a bottle with coffee in the morning, a bottle at lunch, a bottle after lunch, and one for dinner or the gym.

The beginning strides were easy. I even started drinking more than my original goal. I found myself refilling frequently. It never felt forced to drink more, which was a good thing!

After the first week, I already started seeing results. I felt more upbeat and refreshed. The water, in a way, gave me encouragement to work out more too. My skin was clearing up and stopped being so dry. I was impressed with what I had seen thus far and ultimately couldn’t wait to see what drinking more water each day could do.

The next goal was six to eight bottles a day. I know right?! Sounds like a ton but after a whole week of feeling like a camel, I truly didn’t mind the challenge. At this point, the results got even better.

Not only did my skin clear up completely, I also started to see a small weight loss! Of course, this was mixed with some physical activity. Even so, I think the water had a part in speeding the process up. Speaking of weight loss, the water I was drinking started curving my appetite. I stopped being hungry all the time and found eating normal meals at normal times made me full enough. That’s something I haven’t felt in a long time!

Overall, I’m now on week three of drinking water non-stop. It’s insane how great I feel. I’m keeping up with my workouts and staying active on a daily basis. Pretty much all thanks to my new found addiction. Doesn’t that sound silly? Addicted to water? Regardless, I hope this post helped you in some way and if you end up trying your own challenge please let me know how it works out! Also, don’t hesitate to share your own feel good! I’d love to try them!

Foods I’ve Been Loving

Hi guys! In today’s post I wanted to highlight some of the foods I’ve Been absolutely obsessed with lately. The majority of these options are quick, simple, and so tasty! I knew I had to share them with all of you to enjoy with me! What’s been your favorite snack?

Stiggi’s Yogurt

This non fat, low-calorie, protein packed snack has been my fuel every morning. Not only does it fill you up, it also tastes amazing! My two favorite flavors have been Vanilla Bean and Spiced Pear. These go real nicely with chopped strawberries, sliced bananas, blueberries, a little honey or agave, and crumbled nuts. Give it a try when you’re on the go and want something a little different!

Bagels

Continuing on with breakfast foods, I’ve really been obsessed with Einstein! A majority of their bagels are fluffy and light which I love. It can be difficult to find good bagels that aren’t too doughy or thick. These are just right. My must-have order has been a honey whole wheat with veggie shmear. But honestly, everything on their menu is so delicious. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Lean Cuisines

Recently, I’ve been trying to branch out by finding new ways to cook at home and make meals for myself without doing anything fancy. Some nights I don’t have any left over energy from my work day to take the time and prepare something. With that said, Lean Cuisine has been my life saver and it’s becoming super easy to stay balanced with my food choices!

I’m not saying this should be an everyday option. But LC’s have really stepped up their game. Most of their meals are filled with key nutrients everyone needs in their diet. The entrees are light yet full of flavor. My recent favorites have been the sweet potato mash with turkey and stuffing, white cheddar mac and cheese, butternut squash ravioli with veggies, and all of their single serve pizzas.

Smoothies

I’m definitely evolving into a fruit and veggie addict. Specifically snap peas, cherry tomatoes, strawberries, bananas, and raspberries have been a daily part of my diet. These are great to throw on top of a salad or eat sliced. Another way I like to eat these little guys are through the blender! I’ve taken ingredients like kale, frozen fruit, and a little almond milk to create one delicious smoothie or bowl. It’s quick, easy, and tastes good.

Avocado Toast

The holy grail of all breakfast foods. You can never go wrong with some avocado toast. I’ve been expanding my toast taste buds to the limit lately and have been loving throwing things on top of my breakfast. To really make the flavor pop, try experimenting with different varieties of bread. Multi-grain is perfect for this! I also like to top mine with a little garlic salt, pepper, hot sauce, sliced cherry tomatoes, and an egg. This simple breakfast turns into so much more once you add extra ingredients.

Wraps And Roll-Ups

Pinterest is to thank for this newly discovered obsession of mine. I found some recipes recently for chicken, turkey, or veggie wraps and thought I’d try them out for myself. It’s so much less expensive to make wraps at home rather than buying pre-made ones from the store. I’m saving money and I’m able to customize what I’d like to go in them!

Roll-up snacks are just as great! One of my favorites have been sliced fruit with Nutella or peanut butter. You lay your chosen spread base down, add fruit, and roll. From there, you can choose to take it on the go or cut it into bite sized pieces like a sushi roll! So easy, so cute, so different and fun to eat!

Inexpensive Date Ideas For Spring

Hello everyone and Happy Sunday! In today’s blog post I thought I’d start by introducing a few ideas for Spring date days! The weather is starting to change, the birds are chirping, and summer is on it’s way. During these cooler sunny days, I love to spend a lot of time outdoors and experiencing the things around me. Below, I’ve listed five different date ideas perfect for friends or partners! Give it a read and share with me your upcoming date plans!

Farmers Market

Exploring these last couple of weeks has reminded me how great it is to support local farms, vendors, and creators. Farmer’s markets and little shopping areas showcase the people in your area who work extremely hard for a living and make amazing things. Enjoy that fun atmosphere with the one you love during the Spring time. Many of these markets will be opening up fully for the season. Live music, great food, fresh flowers, and hand made products can’t get much better than that!

Baseball Game

Baseball season is right around the corner! Personally, I really dislike watching the games on television. However, going to the field and experiencing everything in person gets me so excited! Check out your cities major or minor league team tickets. Typically, they’re not very expensive and a lot of fun!

Mini Golf

Inexpensive and easy to play! You don’t have to be great at golf to play a round. Look into your nearest mini golf place for specific pricing and information. Most of the courses are located outside which could make for an awesome Spring day if the weather allows! Afterwards, go grab a cup of froyo to complete the day out! Super fun and easy!

Outdoor Lunch

Where I live, there are a bunch of food places with outdoor eating. Take advantage of the Spring weather by enjoying a lunch or breakfast outside. You could even do something as simple as grabbing a coffee at Starbucks and choose to sit in their outside area. Another really inexpensive option that would be perfect for a sunny day.

Hiking, Kayaking, Being Outside

Some of my favorite Spring and Summer activities consist of working out. Being active during one of the best times of the year is so enjoyable. Research your nearest trails or hiking areas where you can just walk, run, and soak in all the nature.

Same thing goes for kayaking. If you’ve tried it, you know how great it is and how awesome you feel afterwards! If you haven’t tried kayaking, give it a shot! There’s classes out there with instructors ranging anywhere from $15 and up. Check your location and see what’s nearby. Last year, I was able to take a kayaking excursion highlighting a sunken ship in Door County, WI. It was super interesting to see something like that up close! You’re burning calories and getting fit with your friend or partner. Awesome date day for the adventure seekers!
