Easy Ways To Relieve Stress

Woahhhh this work week has me all types of messed up. Life has been so hectic and I’ve been having a lot going on around me. All of this commotion makes it difficult to stay focused and motivated. There have definitely been more than a few times where I just wanted to give up. Anyone else?

Well, fear not because although we all have those days we also have ways to combat them and offset the stress! I’ve come up with 5 ways to remove stress from your life in a variety of different situations. Join me in this blog post so we can all be stress free together!

Clean It Out 

Alright, stay with me here. Cleaning a space reduces the clutter from your life and will leave you feeling refreshed. Start with small places like your car, closet, or bedroom. Then, move on to the rest of your home or spend time really organizing the areas you just cleaned. Trust me, this helps!

Read Or Write 

Expanding your creative thoughts will help relieve some of that stress build up. It’s a mind aid to just let everything go in the comfort of a good book or journal. Spend sometime at a local coffee shop to dial into a better, more relaxed, environment. Let the creative juices flow! What’s been your recent favorite read?

Drive

Sometimes one of the best ways I deal with stress is to just take a lot of time for myself. There’s nothing wrong with that! I do this frequently by hopping in my car and throwing on some tunes. The trip doesn’t stop until I do. The possibilities are quite endless. A drive can mean a few blocks, miles, or hours. So long as your gas budget allows!

Gain A Green Thumb

I’ve recently began filling my little home with plants. It gives me something to plan for every day and makes my space more welcoming. There’s something wonderful about adding greenery to a lived in area! The process of potting, watering, and watching your new babies grow will give you a new distraction. Guaranteed, the tension will melt away with a succulent or two.

Bubble Bath It Up

Nothing says relaxation more than bubbles. After a long hard day, the only thing I want is a warm bath. Light a couple candles, make a hot camomile tea, and slide on into the tub. This is typically the time of the day where I shut down my electronics and spend some much-needed me time. I can’t be bothered when I’m soaking away the stress.

There are plenty of great bath products out there but some of my favorites come from LUSH. Their bath bombs make me feel like a deserving princess worthy of nothing but sparkles and scents that resemble fresh picked roses or clean linens. If that’s not your thing, try a moisturizing body conditioner or scrub. Pampering myself helps leave the troublesome thoughts “down the drain“. See what I did there?

Husband Deployed: 1 Month Update

Wow, one whole month down! I can’t believe so much time has passed since my better half deployed. Truthfully, I feel okay but there are a few things that get to me every once in a while. For instance, my evenings are beginning to blend together and everyday is starting to feel like a Tuesday. It’s the day we tend to forget about, perfectly positioned right in the middle of our work week. Tuesday’s remind us the 7 day stretch has just begun and is no where near over.

Feeling okay about things doesn’t necessarily mean it’s been great. There is nothing easy about your spouse being away. There have been hard days where I wake up knowing it’s gonna be a long one. On those, I try to pack my schedule to offset any unsettling feelings. Staying busy is key! 

There’s also been days where I start my morning off without evening acknowledging he’s gone. As bad as it may sound, I like those days! I hate the constant reminder of my husband being away. Forgetting about it for a while is a nice feeling sometimes.

What’s been my secret tools thus far? FaceTime, Skype, phone calls, text messages and contacting each other any chance we get has made the time go by quick. Along with those, I’ve been trying hard to concentrate on the future and plan for what life will be like when he returns. I’ve taken the time to organize our finances and put together things we have neglected since moving into our home. I don’t want to worry about these things once he’s back.

As for friends and family, everyone’s been great. I’ve gotten a ton of support and love. It’s comforting to know there are individuals that are here when I need them. Still, there are hours where I wish the military talk could just stop. With support comes a lot of concern and frankly I’m doing better than a lot of people give me credit for. I consider myself strong, independent, and successful. I am not one who looks for a “pat on the back” when I know I’m doing a good job. By no means am I used to this much attention and feedback from others.

Even at the beginning stages of our relationship, we kept things very private. We’re not the type to post on Facebook, every hour, just to show the world what we’re doing at that exact moment. We don’t share our anniversary details, rarely our weekend plans, or personal moments. The foundation of our relationship has always been built on making sure we are taken care of before anyone else. I think that’s why I’ve disregarded anyone else’s opinions and continue to do so through this tough time. So far, it’s worked for us that way.

April 2017 Playlist

Happy Wednesday everyone! I woke up this morning with such an urge to publish this short little blog post. My most recent Spotify creation has been full of “dancing around feel good tunes” or “driving in the car singalongs”. There’s no in between really. With all of this rainy Chicago weather going on, I knew it was time for a pick me up!
